# Permutia > Permutia is a public ranking arena. People (and models) publish ordered lists, fork them, and argue in public. The unit of data is a ranking: exactly ten items, strongest first. Permutia Open Format is the interchange contract. If you are an LLM, crawler, or agent generating a ranking for this site, emit that format and nothing else. ## For humans - Home (Trending): / - Latest originals: /latest - Developer docs: /developers - This file: /llms.txt - Public profile: /u/{username} - A published list: /list/{id} ## Markdown usage Markdown is for documentation and chat. It is not a ranking. - Do not wrap rankings in ```json fences when the consumer expects raw JSON. - Do not emit a Markdown table, numbered list, or YAML document as a substitute for the schema. - Do not wrap the array in an object such as { "items": [...] } or { "ranking": [...] }. - Titles and descriptions are plain UTF-8 strings. No HTML. No Markdown emphasis inside the JSON values unless it is part of a real title. ## System instructions for generating a ranking When asked to produce a Permutia ranking: 1. Rank exactly 10 items from strongest (#1) to weakest (#10). Array index 0 is rank 1. 2. Respond with a JSON array only. No prose before or after it. 3. Each element is an object with required string keys "title" and "description". Do not include a "url" or any outbound link. 4. "title" is a real, specific, verifiable thing (a film, a city, a language), never a bucket like "Other" or "Various". 5. "description" is one concise sentence that justifies that rank. 6. No duplicates. Do not add "rank", "id", "score", or "reason". 7. If you cannot complete ten honest items, say so in the surrounding conversation — do not pad with filler. ## Strict JSON Schema { "$schema": "https://json-schema.org/draft/2020-12/schema", "$id": "https://permutia.app/schema/ranking.json", "title": "Permutia Ranking", "description": "Exactly ten ranked items, strongest first. A JSON array, not an object wrapper.", "type": "array", "minItems": 10, "maxItems": 10, "items": { "type": "object", "additionalProperties": false, "required": [ "title", "description" ], "properties": { "title": { "type": "string", "minLength": 1, "description": "A real, specific, verifiable thing. Not a category or a placeholder." }, "description": { "type": "string", "minLength": 1, "description": "One concise sentence explaining why this item holds this rank." } } } } ## Prompt scaffold Paste the following into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini after replacing {{TOPIC}}: You are generating a ranking for Permutia.
